Message to Parents/Carers on Electronic Communications
Dear Parents/Carers (of Linlithgow Academy pupils),
For some considerable time now, I have been thinking about making more use of electronic methods for communicating with families.
The school and the Parent Council have websites with links to other relevant sites and information. What has been missing is wider use of email. I have shied away from this for a number of reasons including maintaining accurate records of families’ email addresses as well as the fact that not everyone uses email. Clearly the major issue revolves around some families not using email and how we ensure that we do not end up with a two-tier system of communication.
That said, I feel the time has now come to gauge the support for increased use of email and look at ways of overcoming the problems.
To start the process, I would like families to complete a form, (which can be downloaded here) and return to the school office by Friday 27th November 2009. It is important we have a significant return from families so that we have accurate information on which to base any future policy.
Please take time to complete all the questions.
Yours faithfully,
David A MacKenzie
